Coach Johnny B is a CrossFit Level 3 Trainer with a Masters Degree in Sports Science and Physical Rehabilitation. Johnny has personally completed 27 marathons and five Ironmans, and has coached hundreds of other athletes competing in endurance events. Johnny's unique endurance and CrossFit backgrounds gives him the perfect combination and skills to program for functional fitness athletes needing a significant overhaul of their conditioning.
How does Performance Plus Programming work?
1) Regular Tests
Each training block kicks off with a conditioning test—think 20-minute bike for average watts, a 5K run or row, or even a brutal "Death by Row" (you’ve been warned).
Just like a 1-rep max back squat anchors a strength cycle, these tests set your baseline. We use your results to personalize intensity targets so every session hits the right energy system—ensuring you're training at the exact zone needed to build an engine that dominates metcons.
2) Three Weekly Training Sessions
Each workout is fully programmed with specific time domains and intensity targets—removing all the guesswork from your training. These 30–60 minute sessions build week over week, progressively increasing in duration or intensity to push your engine further every block.
3) Targeted Training Blocks
Each month of programming is designed to build a specific component of your cardiorespiratory fitness. In Month 1, we focus on developing your aerobic base—improving your heart’s ability to efficiently deliver oxygen and recover between efforts. By Month 3, the emphasis shifts to increasing your VO2max, a key factor in CrossFit performance as it determines how well you can sustain high-intensity efforts, recover quickly between movements, and hang on deep into the toughest metcons.
